The secret Diaries 12

Three weeks in Vegas and we were headed back!
It happened to be the best time of my life. I’m sorry Kendra, I thought to myself. I’ve had really good times with you…I mean you’re my best friend but someone has surpassed you in that…
Daniel…
My boyfriend.

Yes, you heard me right!

The business trip only lasted one week and I played my part as a ghost P.A. my only job was to record the proceedings of the meeting…with a pen. It wasn’t easy trying to catch most of the words as they rolled back and forth between the two parties but I did my best.
In the end, it wasn’t necessary, Daniel had only given me the pretend job just to have me with him. The meetings were video recorded from start to finish…I only found out when it was all over but I wasn’t upset. I wasn’t upset that he had manipulated me into going with him, after all, he was the spender…who still had to pay for my pretend job.
The morning before we were supposed to head back home, he made me watch him have the money wired to my bank account.

The whole 400k…in its dollar equivalent.

I won’t lie, I did the calculation as soon as we got back to the hotel…with my pen and a piece of paper. imagine me having that much money in my account, I thought to myself. I haven’t let Kendra down at all.
Only I got something extra too…
A real relationship…based on real feelings…I loved him and knew he loved me too even if he’d never said it. His actions throughout the trip proved so.
The flight home was…
Well, I don’t know. It was the second time I was on a plane. I was almost as scared as the first time so I did my best to sleep through it…all the while inconveniencing Daniel as I did most of the sleeping on him so on the drive him and so he slept all through  the drive home.
I let him sleep…and so there was quiet I the car.
I stared at him as he slept (his head on the headrest but facing me) and smiled. He looked so tired and yet so peaceful. It made me remember how the past two weeks started. That was the day he extended our stay.

I’d just finished my calculations on the wired money when he came out of the bathroom that night. Yes we shared the same hotel room. He said the hotel people told him that was the only available room the first night but I didn’t believe it. In the short while I’d known him, Daniel liked to plan…so I was sure he already made reservations before we left Nigeria….but I let it slide…after all, dude already spent so much on my passport, visa and both our flights. He was still going to spend on his Casino too…
“Guess what?” he had said, drying the water from his hair with a towel other than the one he had on his waist.
“What?” I said, trying to look innocent. I had just hurriedly thrown the piece of paper I did the calculation on into the dust bin as soon as I heard him come in.
“Bibi, the phrase was guess what?” he said it like he was talking to a slow learner.
“Yes…and I said what.” I replied, trying to sound smart.

  He sighed and gave up.
“The buzz movie is premiering right here in Vegas tomorrow night…and I got us tickets.” He said smiling.
“But we’re supposed to go back home tomorrow morning.”
That wasn’t the reaction he was hoping for…obviously.
“Really? I thought you’d be excited. “ he said, putting on his pyjamas trouser. I did my best not to look. “Other girls would’ve gone wild with excitement.”
“Number one, I’m not other girls…” I said, picking up a bedside magazine the hotel people had the good mind to leave. It was the perfect distraction. “Number two, why would a girl go wild just for a movie ticket?”

Anticipate the next post guys,

I met a man once - The bad?

Hi guys, it's been  months since I updated my blog... It's been a busy 1 year for me and I'm proud of myself and the woman I've become. A friend of mine reminded me a few days ago, of how grown I have become, especially mentally and in my writing skill. I didn't take her seriously until she mentioned my blog. You can't be surprised that i decided to take a look at it this morning only to become nostalgic.  It reminded me of a lot of things but more than that, I can see the flaws in some of the things I've written, and I'm grateful that I am at a point in my career where I can actually spot all of it with ease and create several ways I could have done it better...on the spot! Before I get any more emotional 😎 I stumbled on the last draft I saved for publishing in February of last year and I'm going to share it with you guys exactly as I left it back then.  Read On... "Some of us know how we can feel a lot of different emotions for just one perso...

My truth.

It's 2:44am and I'm crying my eyes out. I feel foolish but I can't help the tears. In my two room apartment that has always been cozy for me, I feel restless and a great urge to take flight. This apartment has been home for me for months now. I leave it in three months time but no matter, it's still my home...a place of refuge, a place where I can be hidden. ...much hidden and alone... But not exactly alone. I hear the voices and conversations of many a people. Now why am I restless and unable to  sleep even at this time? It's because of a man! All my life, I've had enough tears for men...but this feels the worst. I have never cried for a man the way that I've cried for this one. I've never even settled for such a man, never thought my pride and ego would even conceal themselves all for this man. He acted different... Better than other men I've dated... But he turned out the worst of them all. No emotions... No emotions at a...

How Well Do You Know Your Telephone History?

Have you ever wondered how you could just pick up this small device and talk through it to someone else, miles and miles away from you and hear them as clearly as if they were sitting on the same couch as you? I have wondered that a lot. I have wondered who could have stumbled on the idea that something could be done to make people who live far away from each other to communicate with each other by voice. How did the person get the idea? Well, here's what i found... Two men, Alexander Graham Bell and Elisha Gray stumbled on the idea; maybe around the same time, I don't know, but they both filed for a patent on the same day. This caused a huge disagreement that led to a legal battle to find who to be awarded the patent for the invention of the telephone. Alexander Graham Bell won. His lawyer had filed for a patent a few hours before Elisha's lawyer filed for his own patent. One day, in an electrical shop, Alexander Graham Bell was trying to perfect a method for sending mes...
